How to pitch Nepal Digest

We welcome original, deeply reported ideas from writers, photographers and subject-matter experts in Nepal and across the diaspora.

01

What makes a strong pitch

Send a concise description of the story, the central question it will answer and why it matters now. Explain what is new about your angle, which people or evidence you can access and why you are well placed to report it.

  • A proposed headline and section
  • Two or three paragraphs describing the idea
  • Likely sources, reporting access and location
  • Estimated length and delivery timeline
  • A short biography and two relevant work samples

02

What we are looking for

We commission reported features, profiles, explainers, essays grounded in expertise, visual stories and practical guides. We particularly value ideas outside Kathmandu, stories connecting Nepal with its diaspora and work that reveals change through specific people and places.

03

What not to send

Please do not send press releases, promotional profiles, undisclosed brand content, academic manuscripts, generic listicles or completed articles simultaneously submitted elsewhere. A pitch should be written in your own voice; do not use generative AI to manufacture reporting or personal experience.

04

Rates and working terms

If we want to commission the story, an editor will agree scope, fee, deadline, rights, expenses and any safety considerations before work begins. We cannot respond to every submission, but we aim to reply to promising pitches within 14 days.

05

Where to send it

Email pitches@nepaldigest.com with “Pitch: [section] — [short title]” in the subject line. Put the full pitch in the email body; links are preferred to attachments.
