How we make money

A clear account of the business model supporting Nepal Digest and the safeguards protecting editorial independence.

Last updated August 26th 2026

01

Our current model

Nepal Digest is currently publisher-funded while its audience, products and commercial systems are being established. Reader access to the publication is not presently conditioned on a paid membership.

02

Reader support and subscriptions

We intend direct reader support and magazine subscriptions to become an important source of resilient revenue. Payment never purchases favourable coverage or influence over newsroom decisions.

03

Advertising and sponsorships

Nepal Digest may accept responsible advertising and event sponsorship. Ads will be clearly identifiable. A sponsor may support a topic or project, but cannot determine findings, select sources or approve independent editorial copy.

04

Partnerships, licensing and events

Revenue may also come from licensing, syndication, research services and ticketed events. Any partner relationship relevant to a story will be disclosed. Editorial staff are not paid to provide favourable treatment.

05

Grants

We may accept grants for public-interest reporting when the terms preserve editorial control. Grant-supported journalism will name the funder, and funders will not be permitted to edit, preview conclusions or suppress publication.

06

Questions about funding
